The Apprentice: Pure Comedy

[tag]The Apprentice[/tag] (7th of May)

I really hate to admit this but this weeks The Apprentice was just simply brilliant.

It was comedy at its finest. I mean how does this sound as an opening line on a joke “Did you hear about the good Jewish boy who goes into the Halal butchers and asks for a Kosher Chicken? The Butcher then kills the Chicken says a prayer to Allah and says there you go mate!”

We are told that these are the cream of British business talent – they are brilliant – just not sure I would want any of them working in my company.

Sir [tag]Alan Sugar[/tag] was also on his best last night – he was very funny. I just think they should change the genre classification from business to comedy. If you did not watch this episode – please do. It is up there with classics from Only fools and horses.

This brings me on to something I have always been curious about – what makes people want to appear on a TV program like this? You know you are going to be made to look an idiot and very few people come out of it well. Some of the past contestants have been very good – [tag]Ruth Badger [/tag](I would have her teaching me to sell any day of the week) and I liked the integrity and honesty we got with someone like Tre (sorry if I have spelt it wrong) I also really liked Christine (other than the selling kisses thing – she was always so spot on). These were strong people with talent who did not win in the end but came through with enhanced reputations. Good luck to them wherever they are. But the good people are few and far between. I think the two candidates who got fired last night are going to struggle slightly as aspersions were cast on their honesty. Being called a snake by Sir Alan is not a good career move. And whilst [tag]Saira Khan[/tag]has gone on to a glittering media career, I really do not rate her. I think she is very entertaining as a columnist and that’s fine – just please don’t pretend that you ‘get business’ – you don’t. And why does BBC breakfast news have one of the apprentices featured on the sofa whenever there is a business issue that needs to be discussed?

Ignore what I have said about The Apprentice in the past – this series is brilliant as a showpiece for the comedy talent that exists in this proud country.

Shame Mat Lucas got ejected last week!
