Welcome back - 2009 is here!
Jan 05
I hope you all had a really great break over the last few weeks and feel fresh and recharged for the New Year. The thing I have always enjoyed about the Christmas break is that it is one of the few times that you switch off from work – safe in the knowledge that everyone else has switched from work as well!
There is no pressure to do anything exciting for the week – you are expected to put a bit of weight on, watch TV, and spend lots of time with family and friends. I always remember a great joke from Rowan Atkinson about Christmas which I shamelessly use all the time. “I have a dilemma every Christmas – do I have a happy one or do I spend it with the family”.
Being a football fan, you learn to realize the power of the saying “hope springs eternal”. No matter, how bad things are there will be always be next season! I feel the same way about each New Year. It gives you a great opportunity to start again and to renew.
Many of us will be happy to see the back of 2008 as it was a year that did bring ruin to a lot of people. Many of us are still reeling from the collapse of many businesses, stock markets and house prices. I am confident that the New Year will bring many opportunities to recoup those losses.
There are lots of predictions around and I confess to enjoy reading them but I think as an entrepreneur you can forge your own future in all times. Yes, we are facing a recession, but people will still be spending and you just might have to work harder at getting their money. That is no bad thing. It just means that before you start any new venture or project, you really do need to make sure that there are customers who want the service or product you provide or are intending to provide.
So, I hope you are looking forward to 2009 and I wish you the very best of luck for the year ahead.
Hi and welcome to my blog.
